Description

On behalf of our client Schneider Electric Nederland, a leading global manufacturer of electrical devices with a strong commitment to sustainability, who is dedicated to digital energy management transition, we are looking for a Field Engineer – Datacentre Solutions who will be responsible for maintaining and retrofitting the company’s Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) products, as well as for providing technical support to company clients for all products, services, and solutions within the UPS range.

Responsibilities

As a Field Engineer – Datacentre Solutions, you will be part of the company’s division that provides data centre solutions and a wide range of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) products and services.

Key responsibilities:

• Instal, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair client equipment within the range of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) products and solutions, batteries, and power electronic devices...
• Provide clients with technical details about the operation and maintenance of UPS equipment; advise clients on best practices, new services, and upgrading possibilities
• Provide technical instructions and guidance to new and less experienced colleagues technicians
• Test circuits and equipment using various tools and machines (computers, software, workstations, circuit diagram, etc.); perform warranty and recall work
• Analyse malfunctions in equipment and interpret maintenance manuals, using knowledge of systems and electronics to isolate and correct issues
• Provide customer service; respond to emergency calls and be available for interventions
• Maintain service equipment, tools, and documentation
• Perform start-up/commissioning on equipment across the product portfolio; perform preventive, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on equipment
• Perform basic audits of clients’ electrical systems and equipment
• Participate in site visits, evaluating technical and professional performance; at the same time, look for other business opportunities outside the current scope of work and indicate them to the sales team
• Communicate regularly with the Planning Coordinator for smooth execution of interventions

In addition, your daily tasks will include:

• Developing innovative solutions for more complex technical problems that arise during start-up
• Documenting all required information for each site (prepare technical report)
• Making sure that a signature from the client is obtained for acceptance upon the execution of the on-site work
• Providing daily and accurate time and expense for each client intervention
• Properly documenting, labelling, and returning all defective parts used in the repair of equipment to the designated disposal/repair location
• Escalating to FS technical expert when unable to solve a technical issue

Qualifications

Technical skills and experience:

• Relevant degree in electronics / electricity / mechanics
• At least 1 year of related experience, or 4-5 years equivalent experience in a related field, or equivalent combinations of education and experience
• Working proficiency in Dutch; knowledge of English is considered a plus
• A high level of technical knowledge of electronic/electrical component theory; knowledge of HVAC systems and large battery systems will be an advantage
• Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business procedures, professional documents, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
• Ability to write reports and procedure manuals; to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and clients
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; ability to apply concepts of algebra and geometry
• Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, etc.
• Ability to communicate effectively at various intellectual levels
• Demonstrable hands-on technical work experience required
• Relevant experience with critical systems infrastructure equipment (i.e. electrical switchgear, diesel generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, fire detection/suppression, or building monitoring systems)

• Handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• A valid driver's license is a must
